Join the nationally recognized Clinical Team at Borgess Medical Center, located in Kalamazoo, MI. Borgess Medical Center (BMC) is a 426-bed teaching hospital and regional tertiary care center. Borgess is also affiliated with Ascension Health the largest non-profit healthcare ministry in the nation, representing 64 general acute care hospitals.
Currently we have Educator openings in the following areas:
Cardiac Director: The Director will oversee a 46-bed telemetry floor focusing on cardiac medical patients with high acuity. Borgess offers the most comprehensive cardiovascular medicine programs in southwest Michigan including cardiac rehab, surgery, cardiology, women’s heart program, external counterpulsation and pulmonary rehab.
Surgical Sub-Specialties Director: This floor is comprised of a 25 cardio thoracic and 21 vascular/neuro beds. Stable vents will also be added this year. Borgess is one of the largest open-heart surgery programs in the Midwest and has three operating rooms dedicated to cardiovascular surgery.
The Clinical Nurse Educator will operate as a key member of the department with a focus on all education and training activities for the unit. This position reports into Department Director and will collaborate with leadership and unit representatives to assure competent staff performance to promote quality patient outcomes.
Responsibilities will include; design and delivery of educational programs for clinical personnel, identification of problems or deficiencies in performance and overall staff knowledge of patient care, research of subject matter related to problems/deficiencies and development of educational activities/programs based on identified needs.
Qualifications for the position include:
• Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing Degree required. Master’s degree required or completion within 5 years of date of hire.
• Professional knowledge of nursing theory, practice and administration.
• Three to five years professional nursing experience with a minimum of three years clinical nursing. Two years in a Clinical Preceptor role required; experience in Program Design and Delivery preferred.
• Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively when teaching and consulting in collaboration with program participants and management staff.
• Analytical skills necessary for project management, appropriate teaching materials based upon evaluation of training and educational needs, and asses
• Current educational/teaching experience in Cardiac.
