Borgess Medical Center (BMC) is located in Kalamazoo, MI. and is a 426-bed teaching hospital and regional tertiary care center. BMC is a regional acute care hospital that offers over 40 medical specialties including nationally recognized cardiac, orthopedic, and neurological care programs, and is a Level 1 Trauma center. Borgess is also affiliated with Ascension Health the largest non-profit healthcare ministry in the nation, representing 64 general acute care hospitals.
Currently Borgess has leadership opportunities in the following areas:
Cardiac Director: The Director will oversee a 46-bed telemetry floor focusing on cardiac medical patients with high acuity. Borgess offers the most comprehensive cardiovascular medicine programs in southwest Michigan including cardiac rehab, surgery, cardiology, women’s heart program, external counterpulsation and pulmonary rehab.
Surgical Sub-Specialties Director: This floor is comprised of a 25 cardio thoracic and 21 vascular/neuro beds. Stable vents will also be added this year. Borgess is one of the largest open-heart surgery programs in the Midwest and has three operating rooms dedicated to cardiovascular surgery.
The Department Director reports to the Administrative Director and is responsible for directing, planning, and coordinating the operations of the department which includes 100+ staff on a 24-hour basis. The Director will play a crucial role in promoting staff engagement, ensuring accountability among staff and operating as a visible leader for the department. Additional responsibilities will include ensuring quality patient care, lead joint commission accreditation, fiscal management and effective communication utilizing relationship centered care concepts. Direct reports to this position include: Assistant Department Director, Unit based Educator, Staff RN's, Patient Care Associates and Care Center Coordinators.
The candidate we are seeking must be BSN and/or MSN prepared. Prior experience working in similar clinical areas in a fast passed acute care setting with progressive experience in management/leadership roles. Proven background in improving and maintaining excellent staff and patient satisfaction levels.
