Description:
This position functions within the X Nursing Division, which is accountable for the delivery of nursing services to patients in ambulatory and inpatient settings. The Department Director of the Emergency Department has operational authority and responsibility for accomplishment of the hospital departmental goals and objectives related to emergency services. The position has 24-hour responsibility for the Emergency Department for adults and pediatrics and for operation of the Emergency Communications Center. The Department Director plans, organizes and directs the activities of the Emergency Department maintaining focus on the following key objectives; ensuring the provision of quality patient/family centered care, implementation and evaluation of policies, procedures, strategies and services for the Emergency Department, assuring interdisciplinary collaboration among staff and leadership to optimize care and the work environment, setting departmental priorities in accordance with overall institutional goals and departmental objectives and representing the Emergency Department within Patient Care Services and on projects and program leadership.
Qualifications:
· Current Oregon RN license.
· Masters Degree (nursing preferred or other related field) or evidence of actively completing Masters Program.
· Must have 5 -8 years of progressively responsible clinical nursing experience that demonstrates the ability to lead in an emergency services environment.
· Must possess strong communication skills, teamwork (demonstrated ability to build team and integrate existing teams), and experience within complex organization environments.
· This position is eligible for faculty appointment with the School of Nursing.
· Previous experience required in program or project leadership.
· Preferred: Minimum 5 years management experience in an academic setting, Pediatric ED and Level One Trauma experience.
