Nursing Supervisor

Position Purpose: The Hospital Supervisor is delegated the authority and responsibility for administrative supervision of hospital activities on the assigned shift. In the absence of the Administrator on evenings, nights, and weekends, has the delegated responsibility to represent the Administrator and is responsible for general supervision of all departments and employees. Supervises and coordinates activities of nursing personnel to maintain continuity of patient care. May reassign personnel as deemed necessary, based on patient census and acuity levels. Coordinates activities of Nursing Service with other hospital departments. As problems or situations develop within the Nursing Department and/or other departments, is responsible for a temporary solution and communicating these facts to the appropriate supervisor, or Director. (May be required to take immediate action, if so required by the situation; must make appropriate supervisor immediately aware of the situation). Consults with the Administrator on call when unusual situations or questions arise or if information of importance develops.
