Working under the general direction of the Cardiac Vascular Service Line Director and the direct supervision of the Director of Cardiovascular Health and Wellness: the Cardiovascular Health and Wellness Senior Occupational Therapist performs assessments specific to patients with chronic cardiac, vascular and/or pulmonary disease. Including evaluations, goal setting, treatment planning, patient and family education and the application of treatment techniques in accordance with designated scope of practice and department policies and procedures for patients referred to/enrolled in the Cardiovascular Health and Wellness Program. Utilizes discretion and independent judgment in the development of and application of age-specific and developmentally appropriate quality patient care treatment plans and therapies. Patients may be followed by LLUMC physicians or outside community physicians. Participates in educational activities, departmental committees, research projects, and other health related projects as assigned. Provides direction and guidance in the proper use, care and control of material resources; appraises quality and effectiveness of materials and equipment and communicates to responsible individuals. Applies theoretical concepts to clinical practice and continually expands cardiovascular and pulmonary knowledge base and clinical skills. Utilizes interpersonal skills to maximize excellence in customer service, safe patient care, and professionalism. Contributes to a work environment of caring and cooperation between a culturally diverse workforce and patient population. Performs other duties as assigned. Job Specifications: Bachelors degree in Occupational Therapy; Masters degree in Occupational Therapy preferred. At least five years of experience in the care of patients with chronic pulmonary, cardiac, or vascular disease Currently licensed by the Occupational Therapy Examining Committee of the California State Board of Medical Quality Assurance. Must have current CPR certification. Fluent in written and verbal English. Ability to speak clearly to gather information, hear on phone and in person. Ability to independently operate required equipment, assessment tools, copy machine, fax machine, answer telephone. Basic computer skills, familiarity with Windows Operating Systems preferred.
